Went to the races at the Silver Dollar Speedway (and the old track out near the park) in my childhood. Went to many races in the 70's at West Cap. Lifelong racing fan, been to many styles of racing. So great to see the old scenes. Brings back a ton of memories.

It seemed I spent most of my young life at Capital Speedway. I was a hardcore Wally Baker fan.Pitted for Wally as soon as I was of age. Those were the best day's of my life.

I spent my youth in the pits at West Capital Raceway. My dad helped Leo Terry build his number 99 car that ran there in the late 60's and early 70's. There was nothing like this track! I loved dodging the big chunks of clay!

I am the only person that talks about this race. The race at Alviso, Calif. It was put on by Doc Becker & Bob Barkimer. Open to all comers. Nascar, War, Others. Qulifing was shortend. It was time to start the races. Iturned second fast time. A fellow from Ablene, Texas turned time. There was 6 cars in each of the 3 events. The first 6 cars in each event ran the final. All inverted by Qulifing. The 6 fasted qulifiers ran a Dash, I won the Dash, I won my Preliminery. Started in rear of the fimal. I knew i had my job cut out for me. When the flay droped I went to work. It was only 20 laps. After a while I got in the open. No cars in front of me for 3/4 of a straight away. Looked over the cars. Their was two cars in front of me I couldn't remember passing. Johuuy Keys and Ray Raneiry. runing side by side. Johnny on the out side Ray on the inside. Oupps the one lap to go flag. So I tickled the little Flat. 332 Cu Inch. Got against Johnny and helped him into number three turn. So he went a little high. Left room between him and Ray. The rest is history. Bob Barhimer just loved to tell this story. Said it was the best he had ever seen. RECER"RED"MULLICAN

i was in the racing group that was a capital speedway, and roseville. i was a big fan of larry burton, walley baker, jimmy gordan, and gene corey. but i was a good friend of Ernie Purssell. I was living in quincy ca when i found out on the tv that Ernie and Jimmy were both dead. it is hard for me to watch a race with out thinking about all the great ones we have lost in racing. i am so glad that i found this site so that i can talk about how deep this hurt was and still to this day is. RIP all of the great ones.
