Just taking a trip down memory lane. In the late 60's we went to the races every weekend that they ran. Jimmy Gordon was my favorite. The weekly Gordon vs. Pursell battles were the best. I still have autographed pictures and program covers. I vividly remember exactly where I was when I saw the untimely deaths of Gordon and Pursell on the evening news. Time stood still for several hours. The racing got into my blood, I run two 7 sec. dragters in NHRA Div 6.

Great memories at the All American Speedway, Vintage Classic. I remember the old San Jose Speedway, running Hardtops, Super Modifieds, Midgets. I was wondering if there are Vintage Races at other speedways? I would also like to find any memorabilia from the San Jose Speedway.

This a great website. If possible would like to see more from the San Jose track since this is where my wife and I both grew up. Also, if you have any other pictures of Ed Hopper. Thanks, and can't wait to check back. :welcome:

I grew up in South Sac about a mile from Hughes Stadium. Dad & I went to the Hardtops there and at West Cap regularly. My dad worked with one of the Baker brothers at Goodyear. I distinctly remember the Bakers, Soares, Johnny Keyes, and many others. What a great time that was. This site brings back so many good memories. Thank you

I've raced at west capital a couple of years in the late 70's. I started racing in lakeport on the pavement and went to roseville for awhile then to San Jose. After san Jose closed i went to west capital where i really learned to drive on the dirt. They were great memories of a great track

I bought a Plymouth coupe from Scotty Clarkson in 1965,raced at Auburn in Hobby division of BCRA. Great success, loved that car. Bought a car from Bob Lehman he had built for Donnie Graham. It didn't last but about half the season. All the drivers told me I didn't have enough experiance to run main events and to stop hot qualifing. They were right, I hit the third turn wall so hard that only a pile of junk was left. Enough for two trailers. GREAT TIMES !!!!!!
