The driver of the #555 car is Charlie Sanchez of Ripon, Ca and the picture was most likely taken at Stockton 99 Speedway some time around the mid 60's when Stockton modifieds first started using small block Chevy's. Charlie used a '55 chevy all cut down like a modified. If a '55 and up Chevy was used, it had to use a '55 Chevy frame and have coil spring suspension on the front. If Ford flatheads were use they could continue to run the Ford transverse spring front end setups. Charlie used to race straight eight Buick powered hardtops and later a modified Buick with a six cylinder Jimmy for motivation, before finally turning to the '55 Chevy pictured in the photo gallery.
